They're all lined up, one by one.
They're making it fast, getting it done.
I'm up next, i was third in line.
After waiting for so long, fin'ly it's my time.
I've got the requirements, I made the grade,
I've got the patience, now it's time to play.
I've dreamt about this, thought I'd get the job,
But when i was about to go in, the red lights told me to stop.
Figures that, for a one-slot job, the two ahead of me got in.
They didn't have the requirements needed,
but chances of me also getting in is slim.
Their interviews didn't sound impressive,
they didn't say/do anything.
they just smiled, winked and sweet-talked the Boss,
the next thing i knew they were hired.
Wait, we gotta hold the line,
the Clerk told us to come back some other time.
When there will be openings or when they need something, they'll call.
Don't worry, she said,
They'll get by the dozens when the Company needs an overhaul.
Went home to ease my weary mind,
Dream job, chance of a lifetime.
Blew it because i was late,
Blew it because i didn't arrive as early as they did.
Third in line, A Third of a time.
Thinking maybe the Job's not for me, some consolation.
but i really wanted to hear their cheers and congratulations.
Days later,
Criticism and Review of their performace came in.
Employee 2 isn't working as hard as he seems,
Employee 1 was always absent, always missing.
But both were always at the top of the Boss' list.
Guess there's always favorites at this Industry i work in,
Guess there's no use of competing.
Wishful Employee 3, by the name of Me,
was somewhere lost along the lines.
Losing his touch and his class,
at the point of almost giving up.
Unemployed and unappreciated,
looks like his fortune's faded.
Three's a crowd, and they're all endowed
with the tools of the trade, any of them can make the grade.
But i guess things are on a first come, first served basis,
In this kind of Industry, there's no use in fighting.
Three's A Crowd.
